I am blessed and a little bit spoiled!

On February 15th, every woman is asked several times, "So what did you get for Valentine's Day?
How was your Valentine's Day?" I too fell prey to the questions.
Unfortunately, I have to admit, my answer to most was "It was ok, but not GREAT!"
To some, I even grumbled a little, wishing that I had gotten more.

You see, the morning began with Mike letting me sleep in while he got up and got the kids
all ready for school. Then after sleeping in, we went to Ponca City so that he could buy the
girls their valentine gifts from him. While there, he bought them gifts, cards and also purchased me a card which he wrote very sweet things in.
He also offered to buy me basically anything I wanted while we were there.
He did actually buy me some white chocolate truffles
even though I was in a bad mood by this time, and I had said that I didn't want anything.
Then we went to Rusty Barrell Steakhouse where I had an incredible steak sandwich.

Then for supper, we had steak, baked potatoes, corn, french bread, mixed berries and
strawberry cheesecake. The entire family was actually home at the same time to enjoy it!
The table was set with heirloom plates passed down from Mike's grandma Williams
and wine glasses (filled with strawberry pop) that were wedding gifts 19 years ago!

Finished the evening by watching a movie snuggled up in bed.

So...why the bad mood? Why the grumbling?
Because I am a spoiled brat!
Yes, I hate to write it and really hate it that I am blogging it because now it will
forever be in print and can come back to haunt me!
But, here's my complaint. Get ready for it....
Valentine's Day was basically like just any other day!
You see, my husband often lets me sleep in on his days off and gets the kids up and ready for school.
He regularly lets me buy whatever I want.
We go out to eat somewhere nice at least once per week. Probably at Rusty Barrell every couple months. We have nice meals at home pretty often.
We rent movies and watch them anytime I want to.

So they say, the first step is acknowleging that you have a problem!
So...let it be forever in print...that I, Kristy Leanne Williams realize
that I am so incredibly blessed and even a little bit spoiled!
I had a great Valentine's Day...why? Because it WAS like just any other day!

State Champions!!

DCLA EAGLES WIN STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
FOR 1ST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY!!

As a freshman, Lane got to be part of school history...winning the gold ball for Deer Creek-Lamont Eagles! I have to admit, I wasn't very happy having to get him up to go to weight lifting 4 mornings per week, all summer long, at 6:00 a.m.  I wasn't very happy that he had to go to 3 football camps where big, huge guys were gonna tackle my son!! But...let me tell you how happy I was when our team won that gold ball!! It was worth every early morning practice and, yes, even worth those big guys hitting on him to toughen him up! You know why? Because, my son, Lane, made the very last tackle of the championship game! Wow! Did I mention that I am proud of him?!! To finish bragging, enjoy a picture of the little ole' ring that he got for winning State.

Yeah...it's really that big!! :)

Cheyenne as a DCLA Eagle!

Cheyenne's 3rd and 4th grade DCLA team go
t 2nd place at the Lutheran Tournament in Ponca City.

Coach Means giving the girls a PepTalk!

Coach praying with the Team

If you haven't noticed...I LOVE BASKETBALL! Thankfully so does a couple of my kids! That way I get to go be the crazy mom in the stands who yells and screams cheering on my kids! Cheyenne was so excited this year to be part of a REAL basketball team! They have done very well, placing 2nd at the McCord Tournament as well as the Lutheran Tournament. Perhaps the success could be attributed to the fact that we have an athletic group of girls...perhaps it could be that we have a skilled coach...I would like to think it's that we have a coach that is willing to give God all the Glory and Credit for all that is done in life whether on the basketball court or off.  Coach Jamie Means is the gym teacher at DCLA and he takes these young kids to tournaments and teaches them not only the fundamentalsof basketball, but how to live daily as a Christian. Praying after a game with the team is just a part of the way he shares Christ with these girls. Thank God for allowing me to raise my kids in a small school where Christianity is still viewed as a good thing!  We have a great school and I am very proud that my kids spend their school days with such great teachers!

Just another day in Paradise!!

Several years ago there was a great country song called "Just Another Day in Paradise" that I could really relate to!  See lyrics below and if you know me at all, you'll understand why I liked it so well! Well, as you can see by the pictures above, what started out as a lovely day to go haul some hay bales quickly turned disasterous!! A wheel bearing went out on the trailer that we had borrowed to haul the hay bales home from Blackwell. It sparked causing the hay to catch on fire and once you have hay on fire...you got a PROBLEM!! Fortunately, Mike was able to pull over in a wheat field and unhook his pickup from the trailer. The handle was right by a bale that was on fire so it did burn his hand, but could have been much worse. The Deer Creek Volunteer Fire Dept came out and did a great job of getting the hay cooled off enough that Mike was able to unload it off of the trailer so that it did not ruin the trailer. So, yes, we lost 11 bales of hay at $30/bale and have to replace a couple tires on the trailer and pay for an axle and pay for a fire run....BUT...Mike is fine, the truck is fine, the trailer is basically ok and did I mention that MIKE is fine?!!  God seems to send me little reminders like this all the time to remind me that he never promised me that life would be a bed of roses! In fact, it's pretty tough somedays, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! In fact, every night I ask the Lord for "just another day in paradise!!!"
JUST ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE
The kids screaming, phone ringing
Dog barking at the mailman bringing
That stack of bills - overdue
Good morning baby, how are you?
Got a half hour, quick shower
Take a drink of milk but the milk's gone sour
My funny face makes you laugh
Twist the top on and I put it back
There goes the washing machine
Baby, don't kick it.
I promise I'll fix it
Long about a million other things

Well, it's ok. It's so nice
It's just another day in paradise
Well, there's no place that
I'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise
Friday, you're late
Guess we'll never make our dinner date
At the restaurant you start to cry
Baby, we'll just improvise
Well, plan B looks like
Dominoes' pizza in the candle light
Then we'll tippy toe to our room
Make a little love that's overdue
But somebody had a bad dream
Mama and daddy
Can me and my teddy
Come in to sleep in between?

Yeah it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place that
I'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise
Well, it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place that
I'd rather be
Two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise

For just another day in paradise
Well, it's the kids screaming. The phone ringing
Just another day
Well, it's Friday. You're late
Oh yeah, it's just another day in paradise
